Khanna was re-elected to the seat in 2018 after beating Republican Ron Cohen in the general election by a vote of 75 percent to 25 percent, capturing over 107,000 more votes than Cohen.

Khanna is a former U.S. Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary.

Khanna accepts donations solely from individuals and proposed the creation of the No PAC Caucus in the House of Representatives.
