Ayanna Pressley, Representative from Massachusetts' 7th District

Ayanna Pressley (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Pressley (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

In 2018, Pressley defeated 10-term incumbent Rep. Michael Capuano in the district's Democratic primary election.

At the start of the 116th Congress, Pressley was a member of the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Before being elected to Congress, Pressley had served as an at-large representative on the Boston City Council since her election in 2009 and as a staff member for U.S. Senator John Kerry. She was the first black woman elected to the Boston City Council and to the U.S. House from Massachusetts.
