Mark E. Amodei, Representative from Nevada's 2nd District

Mark Amodei (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Nevada's 2nd Congressional District. He assumed office on September 13, 2011. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Amodei (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Nevada's 2nd Congressional District. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Amodei was first elected to the U.S. House in a 2011 special election to replace Rep. Dean Heller (R). Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) had appointed Heller to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Sen. John Ensign (R).

Prior to the special election, Amodei had been serving as chairman of the Republican Party of Nevada. Before that, he served in the Nevada State Senate from 1998 to 2010 and the Nevada State Assembly from 1996 to 1998. Amodei received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific and has worked as an attorney in a private practice.

Amodei was born in Carson City, Nevada. He earned his B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1980. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1983. Amodei served in the U.S. Army from 1984-1987.
