Ken Calvert was born in Corona, California. Calvert graduated from Corona High School in 1971. He earned an A.A. from Chaffey College in 1973 and a B.A. from San Diego State University in 1975.

Calvert's career experience includes owning a business and working as a restaurant manager. He served as the chair of the Riverside County Republican Party.
