David Schweikert, Representative from Arizona's 1st District

David Schweikert (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Arizona's 1st Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2023. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Schweikert (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Arizona's 1st Congressional District. He declared candidacy for the 2024 election.

After two unsuccessful congressional runs in 1994 and 2008, Schweikert was first elected to the U.S. House to represent Arizona's 5th Congressional District in 2010, where he served until his election to the 6th Congressional District. Schweikert served as U.S. Representative for Arizona's 5th Congressional District from 2011-2013, and Arizona's 6th Congressional District from 2013-2023.

In the 116th Congress, Schweikert was assigned to sit on the Committee on Ways and Means for a second term.

Schweikert began his political career in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. He became majority whip in his second term.

David Schweikert was born in Los Angeles, California. Schweikert earned an A.A. from Scottsdale Community College in 1985, a B.S. from Arizona State University in 1988, and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University in 2005. His career experience includes owning a business and working as a realtor and financial consultant.
